The Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) has won the Liberia Learning Awards 2021.
CENTAL was nominated and awarded today as the ‘Outstanding Civil Society Organization in the Field of Accountability and Promoting Good Governance’ amongst forty (40) national civil society organizations that participated in the exercise.
With funding from the West African Civil Society Institute (WASCI), the virtual learning workshop was organized by Accountability Lab Liberia and Kids Education Engagement Project (KEEP Liberia) to foster learning within the CSO’s community in Liberia, share ideas, and learn from each other.
At the end of the workshop, participating COSs were required to nominate other CSOs (not themselves), for the categories of accountability, open governance, natural resource advocacy, gender and inclusion and the rule of law based on outstanding performances/achievements and concrete examples of how learning has been integrated into their programs.
Making the presentation Thursday, July 22, 2021, in Monrovia, Accountability Lab Liberia Country Director, Lawrence Yealu lauded CENTAL for keeping up the engagements and advocacies in the fight against corruption and promoting the culture of transparency and accountability in Liberia over the years.
In response, CENTAL’s Executive Director Anderson Miamen thanked Accountability Lab Liberia and partners for their farsightedness in recognizing the work of CENTAL in her quest promote and entrench accountability, transparency and integrity across all sectors in Liberia.
Director Miamen said the fight against corruption requires collective efforts and as such, CENTAL remains committed and ready to work with other CSOs, the government of Liberia, public integrity institutions, members of the public and other stakeholders in the promotion of transparency and accountability in Liberia.
